The science popularization work of Yifu Museum was commended by the provincial government, with its curator Liu Xianguo awarded“the fifth advanced science popularization worker in Hubei province”on march 18th, according to the seventh meeting of the ninth committee of Hubei Association for Science and Technology. Wang Yanxin,academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of China University of Geosciences (CUG) attended the meeting.
Xu Nanxi, Director of the Science Association Office of the Institute of Science Development of CUG, delivered a speech on the topic of “Arouse the mission and responsibility of scientific and technical workers,fight against the COVID-19 and revitalize society in a science-based manner”.In 2020, based on the advantages of scientific and technological disciplines and organization of CUG,the association calls on academicians, experts and other scientific and technological workers to undertake missions,carry out scientific and technological breakthroughs and conduct science popularization around the key issues, injecting scientific and technological strength for epidemic prevention and control and post-epidemic recovery.
Liu Xianguo said, the honor is not only a recognition of our work but a motivation of Yifu Museum. In the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan,based on CUG’s characteristics and under the theme of “beautiful china,habitable earth”, the museum will work to enrich the content of science popularization, strengthen the brand of science popularization activities, and create an environment that features science and innovation in accordance with the Party Central Committee's decisions and arrangements as well as work requirements of provincial party committee and China Association for Science and Technology. playing a leading role in science popularization,Yifu Museum will push Hubei's science popularization to the forefront, so as to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with outstanding achievements.
As a national popular science education base and national second-class museum, Yifu Museum has been committed to spreading scientific and cultural knowledge of geography by carrying out a series of activities integrating scientific, knowledge and interest, such as permanent exhibition, popular science exhibition and education and science and technology exchanges.
