CUG News (Correspondent: Liu Anlu, Chen Jing, Sui Jixiang) The 2021 Hubei Wuhan Science and Technology Week kicked off on May 22. Yifu Museum of China University ofGeosciences took part in the opening ceremony and science popularization activities.
The week was themed by “science and technology development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China over the past century”. In the interactive science popularization exhibition area, Yifu Museum displayed mineral specimens such as fluorite, crystal, malachite and graphite, fossils of palaeobios such as dinosaur eggs, trilobites and ammonite, dinosaur models and popular science books.
Xiao Juhua, vice governor of Hubei province and other provincial and municipal leaders visited the exhibition area of the Yifu museum. Inspecting the exhibits displayed, they learned about a number of science popularization activities of the museum, and had cordial exchanges with representatives of science and technology enterprises, students and citizens.
Mineral specimens attracted a large number of visitors with their wonderful crystal shape, peculiar structure, gorgeous color. Showing a strong interest in the formation, use and value of these rocks, the audience asked many questions and received lively explanations from the staff of the museum.
Attracted by lifelike model of tyrannosaurus rex and fossils of dinosaur eggs, trilobites, ammonite,children at the exhibition put forward many questions one after another, they didn't leave until they got satisfactory answers.
The Science and Technology Week, from May 22 to May 28, was co-hosted by the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, the Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, Hubei Association for Science＆Technology and Wuhan Municipal People's Government, and organized by Wuhan Science and Technology Bureau and Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of East Lake High-tech Zone. Theinteractive science popularization exhibition area has nearly 80 booths from 56 institutions, covering life and health, natural resources, Beidou navigation, food security, smart agriculture, smart medical care, disaster prevention and mitigation, fire technology, digital technology and other aspects.
Yifu museum prepared a series of wonderful science popularization activities,in addition to taking part in the opening ceremony of the week, graphic information of the museum’s collections was showed onmetro line 2"Wenbo Express" to popularize science knowledge. The museum held the "Exhibition of Yangtze river plan ", organized the commentator to participate in the nationalcontest for natural resources popularization, and also held “night at the museum” activity. The museum will also open to the public free of charge on May 26 to attract the general public to explore the mysteries of the earth.
