The student won the third prize in the National Natural Resources Science Popularization and Explanation Competition

On May 29th, it was learned from the final of the 2024 Natural Resources Science Popularization and Explanation Competition that after intense competition, Li Bingxin, a volunteer of the Yifu Museum Social Education Team at China University of Geosciences and a first-year graduate student of the School of Earth Sciences, won the third prize.

Under the guidance of Professor Tang Xiaoling from the Yifu Museum, Li Bingxin, based on the characteristics of the discipline of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), focused on the theme of "carbon drilling - a new approach to carbon pollution control". At the finals, she talked about the theoretical support of high-temperature and high-pressure experiments for cultivating diamonds, as well as the technological prospects of using carbon elements in exhaust gas to cultivate diamonds. She vividly demonstrated the charm of earth science and the tireless efforts of humanity in deep earth science.

In recent years, the Yifu Museum has built a highland for interdisciplinary education based on the characteristics of the school's disciplines. Teachers and students have achieved excellent results in various professional competitions such as the Wuhan Science Popularization and Explanation Competition, Hubei Province Science Popularization and Explanation Competition, National Science Popularization and Explanation Competition, and Natural Resources Science Popularization and Explanation Competition.
