On the afternoon of April 22, coinciding with the 56th World Earth Day, the Yifu Museum of China University of Geosciences organized a public welfare science outreach event at Jiang’an District Special Education School in Wuhan. The event, themed "Exploring the Ancient Dinosaurs, Dreaming of Aerospace", provided special needs students with a fascinating journey into the world of science.

Which country has discovered the most dinosaur fossils? How did dinosaurs go extinct? What color is Earth when viewed from space? At the start of the event, the museum’s science educator used engaging language to introduce the rise and extinction of dinosaurs, as well as their connection to modern aerospace. The students actively answered questions, deepening their understanding of these prehistoric creatures.
During the lecture, the educator displayed images of famous dinosaurs, the Long March 5 rocket, the Shenzhou-5 manned spacecraft, and spacesuits, sparking great excitement among the students. Many raised their hands to share their thoughts, showing a strong interest in Earth sciences.
Ruan Bin, principal of Jiang’an Special Education School, remarked that the event—from the expert dinosaur lecture to the engaging aerospace knowledge—allowed these special students to learn scientific concepts, build confidence, and dream big for the future.
It is reported that Jiang’an Special Education School serves children with intellectual disabilities. The Yifu Museum of China University of Geosciences conducts nearly 100 public science outreach activities annually, bringing free science education to kindergartens, schools, and communities—lighting the path of curiosity with love.
